IL Level Descriptions GENERAL SPEAKING ABILITY: The student sometimes still misunderstands or fails to communicate his thoughts. He still commits some errors when using complex grammatical structures, and still uses some imprecise vocabulary. GRAMMAR for Speaking: The student sometimes commits mistakes in his sentences, but he recognizes the proper use of articles, tenses, and question words. VOCABULARY for Speaking: The student has unfamiliarity to only few basic words and still uses pictures or illustrations to understand words easily. He has knowledge of basic vocabulary that helps him express in almost all areas of everyday situations. PRONUNCIATION for Speaking: The student is difficult to comprehend when pronouncing some words. He knows and applies certain areas of pronunciation like phonetics, word stress, & syllables. LISTENING for Speaking: The student begins to show confidence in listening particularly where the topics interest him. He usually listens carefully and responds with increasing appropriateness to what he had listened. He can comprehend some major details and can analyze the given situation using appropriate grammar and vocabulary. Fluency for Speaking: The student can speak and understand reasonably well in most everyday situations although he also has difficulty in some aspects. He can talk about many subjects and give his opinion on them. He can talk with confidence in the present, past and future simple tenses. He can perform tasks such as shopping, booking a hotel room, travel, and making conversation in English. He engages in conversation and shows a willingness to talk and to listen.
